Both my boys have been in Tonya’s care.  Wyatt was her first client from age 2 until he went to full day Kindergarten at age 5.  He is now 10.  Landon was with her from 6 weeks to 5 years old.  He started full day kindergarten Aug 2014. 

 

Tonya is more than just someone who watches your kids while you are at work and her home to more than just a place where your kids play all day.  She is more like a second Mom and a teacher.  Her number one priority is the children.   She puts together a theme or letter/number for the week and does activity that center around them.  The activities range from dramatic play to fun art projects.  There is never a dull moment and you end up with some great art.  The field trips she does with the group are great and my boys always had so much fun.

 

Tonya’s teaching back ground make for a great environment.  She uses her connections to bring other great programs in.  She will have hearing and vision test done for free.  She will have a dentist come in and talk about teeth care.  She does routine fire drills so kids know what to do if the smoke alarm ever goes off at home.  She brings in early childhood development programs to help identify developmental issues.  This came in very handy for me.  At the age of 2 Landon still had not started talking.  One of the ladies from Health beginning asked if I had had him tested.  I had not.  She got me in contact with Child Find.  Long story short, I was able to get in home speech therapy for Landon.  He has never been officially diagnosed, but both of his Speech Therapist has said he has Child Hood Apraxia of Speech.  Not only did the early intervention help Landon make the transaction to Kindergarten, but so did Tonya. 

 

While in Tonya’s care your child will bond and make friends with everyone there.  No one is left in the corner alone and sad.  Tonya and the other kids will make sure of that.  Tonya celebrates everyone’s differences. She teaches them to deal with conflict, how to be good friends and just all around good people.

 

Tonya’s love and dedication to the kids makes her more than just a daycare provider.  It makes her someone you want to hug every day.  We are so thank full for Tonya being “Mama Tonya” to our boys.

Tonya is someone whose true talent and passion is working with children. My daughter absolutely loves going to her house every day. My husband and I love sending her there because we know that there will always be something fun and educational on the agenda for the day: some kind of craft project, a trip to the zoo, or a picnic at the park, just to name a few examples. Tonya works with the children on reading, writing, and fine motor skills to help prepare them for school, but also makes sure that plenty of outdoor play is a regular part of the day. TV time is limited and saved for special occasions. Tonya provides a safe, fun, and enriching environment for each and every child in her care. -Laura R

 

Young at Heart Daycare is a warm and caring environment for our kids! We love that Tonya uses her educational background to make sure the kids days are filled with exploration, learning, and just plain fun :) We feel lucky to have her watch our kids, so we can have a piece of mind that are kids are in exceptional hands.

Tonya has always shown love and tenderness towards my son. We were with Tonya for 1 year then we enrolled my son into Riverstone for pre-school thinking that would be a better choice for him.  It was the worst mis-take I have made for my child's early education. Tonya never raises her voice and teaches the children some amazing things like, gardening. What early education center will your child learn that! -Malia H.
